Fixxate
Privacy Policy
The short version: Fixxate does not collect, sell, or share your personal data. Your books, reading progress, and notes never leave your device. We don't run ads. We don't track what you read.
1. Who we are
Fixxate ("the app", "we", "us") is a distraction-free RSVP speed-reading application available on the web at fixxate.com and on Android via the Google Play Store under the package io.fixxate.app. The app is published by Napslab.

2. What we store on your device
The app stores the following data locally on your device only. We never upload, copy, or transmit it to our servers (we don't run any).
- Books and articles you import — stored in your device's IndexedDB.
- Reading progress (the word position in each book) — stored in localStorage.
- Reader settings (theme, font, words-per-minute, smart pausing, etc.) — stored in localStorage.
- Reading statistics (streak, total words read, average WPM, sessions) — stored in localStorage.
- Margin notes and bookmarks you create — stored in IndexedDB alongside the book.
Clearing your browser data or uninstalling the app erases everything. We have no backup of your data and cannot recover it.
3. What we do not collect
- We do not require an account, email, or login.
- We do not collect your name, location, contacts, or device identifiers.
- We do not access your microphone, camera, photos, or files outside the ones you explicitly import.
- We do not log, transmit, or analyse the contents of the books or articles you read.
- We do not run advertising and do not share data with advertisers.
4. Third-party services
To deliver some features, the app makes requests to a small number of third-party services. These services may receive your IP address and basic request metadata as part of normal internet operation, but we do not pass them any personally identifiable information.
Web version (fixxate.com)
- Vercel Analytics — collects anonymised, aggregate traffic data (page views, country-level location, referrer, device type). No cookies; no cross-site tracking. See Vercel's privacy policy.
- jsDelivr CDN — used to load the Mozilla Readability library when you import an article from a URL.
Both web and Android
- GitHub Gist — when the app launches, it fetches the "Daily Mindset Update" article list from a public GitHub Gist. The request is anonymous.
- AllOrigins.win and Jina Reader (r.jina.ai) — when you paste a web URL, the app uses these services as CORS proxies to fetch the article HTML so it can be extracted into reader mode. The destination URL you submit is sent to these services as part of the request.
These third parties operate under their own privacy policies. If you would prefer not to use them, simply do not use the URL-import feature — all other features (file import, RSVP reading, settings, stats) work fully offline.
5. Permissions on Android
The Android app requests only the permissions strictly required to function:
- Internet access — to fetch web articles you paste in, and to fetch the daily article list.
- Storage / file access — only when you actively pick a file to import. The system file picker is used; the app does not browse your storage on its own.
6. Children's privacy
Fixxate is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any data from anyone, including children.
7. Data security
Because the app stores data locally on your device, the security of that data depends on your device's own security (lock screen, encryption, etc.). We do not maintain copies on any server. Network requests to third-party services are made over HTTPS.
8. Your rights
Since we do not store personal data on our servers, there is nothing for us to retrieve, export, or delete on your behalf. To remove all Fixxate data, clear the app's storage in your browser or uninstall the Android app. To delete an individual book, use the trash icon next to it in the library.
9. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes materially, we will update the "Last updated" date above and post a notice in the app. Continued use of Fixxate after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
